Keeping Networks on Format: Skyview Networks Debuts Radio System with Break-Specific Commands

Skyview’s F.A.S.T. Web Automation System rolls out spring 2012 with its Major League Baseball partners

PHOENIX, Ariz. (4/10/12) — Skyview Networks, play-by-play broadcast specialist, announced today the release of its newest broadcast solution: F.A.S.T. Web Automation. The system debuts break-specific commands, in place of relay technology, and utilizes a web interface. It will first roll out to its Major League Baseball (MLB) partners in spring 2012. This web version increases network broadcast success and allows affiliates access to game logs from anywhere an Internet connection is available, with no software to install.

“Skyview’s F.A.S.T. Automation is a tool we can use to grow our network. For the affiliate it makes clearing games easier and keeps cost down. In turn, this gives us greater clearance of our games and our ancillary programming,” said Marc Garda, director of broadcasting for the Pittsburgh Pirates. “With F.A.S.T. we are satisfying needs of our current affiliates and attracting interest from potential affiliates.”

F.A.S.T. Web Automation moves forward from the current relay technology used for network broadcasts and instead utilizes break-specific technology: each advertisement break (local, ID or network) has a break-specific command. This new model keeps network stations on format, decreasing the possibility of missed breaks, covered breaks or late rejoins.

“The new F.A.S.T. Web Automation is great new technology. With many of our other daily services going cloud based, it is nice to add our play-by-play to the list. With its ease of use, reporting options and peace of mind in how the games execute it allows us to go automated comfortably,” said of Brian Jewett, operations manager of Team 1010 KXPS-AM, Palm Springs.

Select Skyview Networks MLB partners have first access to the web-based affiliate automation system. F.A.S.T. Web Automation eliminates the need to hire and train board operators and integrates seamlessly with Skyview Networks’ next generation satellite receivers. Schedules and audio are automatically updated to the satellite receiver through the automation web portal, easing workload and widening the window for schedule updates. For stations, going web-based provides immediate real-time access to logs and as-played reporting. For franchises, the automation offsets station costs associated with broadcasting its play-by-play programming.

“We are thrilled to release our F.A.S.T. Web Automation to our partners,” said Ken Thiele, president of Skyview Networks. “We pride ourselves on creating solutions that push technology to the next level. There has been a need in the industry to upgrade the relay system to a more reliable and efficient solution. We are confident our partners will find the value in F.A.S.T., and we look forward to its implementation this MLB season.”

Pittsburgh Pirates Expand Broadcast Partnership with Skyview Networks to include Satellite Distribution to its Radio Network

PHOENIX, Ariz. (3/13/12) — Major League Baseball’s (MLB) Pittsburgh Pirates and Skyview Networks announced today the expanded scope of their multi-year partnership. Skyview Networks, an integrated professional sports broadcast service company specializing in play-by-play systems, will now also provide its Satellite Distribution Service to the Pittsburgh Pirates radio network. The service includes wise satellite receivers that give affiliates the broadcast reliability of a back-up streaming audio feed and the team the expanded sales opportunity of spot localization.

“Skyview has been a valued partner for our inventory management needs, so upgrading to Skyview’s Distribution Service was a natural next step,” said Marc Garda, director of broadcasting for the Pittsburgh Pirates. “We are proud to offer Skyview’s distribution platform to our affiliates and we look forward to a successful season ahead.”

Skyview Networks has begun distribution and installation of the wise satellite receivers to the Pittsburgh Pirates radio network of 36 stations. With these receivers spread across the network, the Pittsburgh Pirates command the inventory control to copy split spots by market.

Kansas City Royals Increase Onsite Control Over Play-by-Play Radio Broadcast with
Skyview Networks
Royals to utilize Skyview’s F.A.S.T. Inventory Management System in the broadcast booth

PHOENIX, Ariz. (02/28/12) — Major League Baseball’s Kansas City Royals and Skyview Networks announced today a new broadcast partnership for inventory management. Skyview Networks, an integrated professional sports broadcast solutions company specializing in play-by-play systems, will provide its F.A.S.T. (Flexible Audio Storage Technology) Inventory Management System for Kansas City Royals radio. The system allows the Kansas City Royals the ability to produce the radio broadcast directly from the broadcast booth at the ballpark, home or away.

“We are enthused to bring Skyview on board as a broadcast partner,” said Mike Bucek, Vice President of Business Development for the Kansas City Royals. “The F.A.S.T. system caters to our production needs and provides the flexibility and the incredible control we seek in an inventory management solution.”

Skyview Networks’ F.A.S.T. Inventory Management System conveniently allows the producer to broadcast directly from the booth at the ballpark: it loads, plays and automates the broadcast directly from the stadium. The application’s real-time access and flexibility supplies full control over advertiser scheduling and streamlines the as-played reporting and billing process.

“We feel privileged to extend our presence in the Midwest with this distinguished franchise,” said Matt Stys, Vice President of Business Development for Skyview Networks. “With the F.A.S.T. system, I am confident the franchise will experience an efficient approach to maintaining all components of advertiser scheduling and invoicing. We look forward to building a long relationship with the Royals as we continue to partner on play-by-play broadcast solutions.”
The Kansas City Royals radio network can be heard on more than 80 affiliates across eight states and on its flagship station, KCSP-AM 610. For more information on the Kansas City Royals 2012 season, visit www.kansascity.royals.mlb.com.
